1. Jet Washing
Jet washing (or pressure washing) is the process of cleaning surfaces using high-pressure water. This step removes dirt, grime, moss, algae, and other debris that can accumulate on outdoor surfaces. Preparation:
- Clear the Area: Remove any furniture, plants, or other items from the area you intend to clean.
- Safety Gear: Wear protective clothing, including safety glasses, gloves, and waterproof boots.
Jet Washing:
- Connect the Pressure Washer: Attach your pressure washer to a water source and ensure it's set up correctly.
- Choose the Right Nozzle: Use a nozzle that's appropriate for the surface. For example, a 25-degree nozzle for general cleaning.
- Start Cleaning: Begin jet washing, keeping the nozzle at a consistent distance from the surface (usually around 12-18 inches) to avoid damage.
- Rinse Thoroughly: Make sure to rinse the entire area thoroughly to remove any remaining dirt or cleaning agents.
2. Sealant Installation
After the surface is thoroughly cleaned and dried, applying a sealant helps protect it from future stains, water damage, and wear. Sealants can enhance the appearance of the surface by bringing out its natural color and providing a glossy finish.
Selecting the Sealant:
- Type of Surface: Choose a sealant that is appropriate for the material of the surface (e.g., concrete, stone, wood).
- Finish Preference: Decide whether you want a matte, semi-gloss, or high-gloss finish.
Application:
- Preparation: Ensure the surface is completely dry and free of any debris.
- Apply the Sealant: Use a roller or brush for even application. For larger areas, a sprayer may be more efficient.
- Multiple Coats: Depending on the product, you might need to apply multiple coats. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for drying times between coats.
- Regular Cleaning: Keep the sealed surface clean by regularly sweeping and washing it.
